| 150kW Heating at Shenstone Lodge - Staffordshire
Talbotts Heating LTD of Stafford have installed a 150kW containerised boiler and bunker system at Shenstone Lodge School in Staffordshire. The system is utilising wood fuel pellets to produce hot water to heat their dormitories and school house.
Fuelled by wood pellets, they are deposited into the bunker storage system. The hydraulic lid on top of the container allows the loading of the pellets into the bunker. The fuel is fed into the C3 combustion zone, on demand, through sensitive temperature controllers, providing 120°C Medium Pressure Hot Water. As the pellets have free flowing properties, no discharge mechanism is required for feeding, just a simple screw auger and air-locked rotary valve for safety. The unit is connected into their existing pipework system heating radiators and providing hot tap water. As the unit is delivered in a container it was easy to install and also encloses any mechanical logistics to improve safety of the school children.
The 150kW boiler produces medium-pressure hot water at 120°C and is being continuously monitored to assess its performance. Talbott's has also recently installed a 1000kW system at Morland Profiles, a firm of shopfitters based in Welshpool, Powys, which helps the company meet its heating needs while disposing of its wood waste.
