Ymddiheuriadau, ond nid yw cyfieithiad Cymraeg y tudalen hwn ar gael eto. Dyma'r testun Saesneg: The cleanest fuel![]() Wood is the cleanest, safest fuel there is, carrying none of the risks of oil or nuclear and with low sulphur and little nitrogen content. Burned properly it produces little smoke - and the ash makes an excellent fertiliser. It has none of the economic and environmental costs of the alternatives. The main emissions from wood are water vapour and carbon dioxide - there may be trades of carbon monoxide, particulates and volatile organic compounds. The quantities depend on the quality of the fuel, appliance and how the fire is managed. Wood smoke contains no sulphur dioxide and very little nitrous oxide - which means it does not contribute to acid rain. Smoke - particles of unburnt fuel - is caused by incomplete combustion. It means that the wood is not burning efficiently. The best fire is a hot one with very little visible smoke and no smell. (See How to burn Wood). Wood smoke emissions can be reduced by using efficient appliances and well seasoned timber. Carbon Monoxide can be generated by any carbon based fuel and is potentially dangerous. All stoves should be professionally fitted and inspected and cleaned every year. <<< Previous: Local jobs for local people Next: >>> Where to buy wood fuel |
