Glastir Woodland Management Scheme available for the creation and management of woodland.

Renewable Heat Incentive. RHI. Announced 10 March on the DECC website. The scheme will be introduced in two phases.

In the first phase, long-term tariff support will be targeted in the non-domestic sectors, at the big heat users - the industrial, business and public sector – which contribute 38% of the UK's carbon emissions. Under this phase there will also be support of around £15 million for households through the Renewable Heat Premium Payment.

The second phase of the RHI scheme will see households moved to the same form of long-term tariff support offered to the non-domestic sector in the first phase. This transition will be timed to align with the Green Deal which is intended to be introduced in October 2012.

Grants for SME's and organisations in some areas of Wales are available from the Wood Energy Business Scheme – WEBS2. It is run by Forestry Commission Wales and gives grants to Small to Medium firewood processing enterprises and also, occasionally, towards wood fuelled heating systems. It is not generally available to farms and farm related businesses, but may be available where diversification such as B&B or holiday lets is taking place. The WEBS grant runs until the end of 2013. More information is available from the WEBS2 Team on 0300 068 0300.

Ynni'r Fro Grant funding is available towards feasibility studies and other preparatory costs for development of community scale renewable energy schemes across Wales. Up to £30,000 is available to fund early stage activities without which the projects would not be able to go ahead, such as environmental surveys, planning applications and community engagement activity.

Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECAs), administered by the Carbon Trust, are a straightforward way for a business to improve its cash flow through accelerated tax relief. The scheme encourages businesses to invest in energy saving plant or machinery to help reduce carbon emissions.
The Carbon Trust also provides 100% interest free loans of £3k - £100k to Sme's

NEWFree Energy Surveys for Businesses

Help for Mid Wales residents may be available via the Windfall Trust - Windfall collects a proportion of the revenue from energy generation in Mid Wales and redistributes it among local communities. This money is offered as grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to communities, householders, farmers, schools and businesses across Mid Wales

Help for installers seeking MCS certification - The new Welsh Microgen Network was launched in November 2010 by the Environment Minister Jane Davidson at the Kenfig Nature Reserve Visitor Centre in Bridgend.

The network, which has been established with the co-operation of the industry, has been set up so that installers of renewable technology can have constructive discussions about the issues that really matter to them.

It has been launched as part of a wider package of support aimed at helping Welsh SMEs to profit from the renewable energy sector. This includes interest free loans and practical advice to help installers through the industry certification process.

There can also be other grants such as the Big Lottery Fund for larger or community projects and, from time to time, other domestic grants may be available in specific areas through local government or charities.

Please get in touch with us if you know of a relevant source of funding that is not listed here.
